Anomaly : The Rochester Genre Film Festival

Anomaly - The Rochester Genre Film Festival is a brand-new festival showcasing contemporary, independent genre movies (horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, dark comedy, and the truly indescribable) from around the world.

Beginning Friday, November 8 and continuing through Sunday, November 10, Anomaly will screen 10 feature films (all Rochester premieres) and 20 short films, collectively representing 17 countries from around the world. In addition, the festival will feature post-film discussions with visiting filmmakers, events, and after-parties over all three days.

In addition to some works by Rochester filmmakers, the world-class lineup includes films that have shown at Sundance, Cannes, SXSW, Venice, TIFF, Fantastic Fest, and many more this year. Most of these won't play in Rochester again.

The festival’s films run the gamut: from the U.S. sneak preview screening of holiday-horror anthology Deathcember, to the documentary You Don’t Nomi about Paul Verhoeven’s 1995 cult-”trashterpiece” Showgirls; from Loatian female-filmmaker Mattie Do’s sci-fi mystery The Long Walk, to the neon-tinged and synth-soaked action-exploitation of Fangoria’s VFW, Anomaly has something from every corner of the genre film spectrum.
