Visiting artist Sean J Patrick Carney will be giving a talk in the Sage blackroom today from 2:00-4:40pm.

Sean J Patrick Carney (b. 1982, Michigan) is a visual artist, writer, and comedian in Brooklyn, NY. He is the founder and director of Social Malpractice Publishing, an independent press that has produced over 50 artist editions and books since 2009. He runs Humor and the Abject, an online collection of writing on contemporary art and comedy, and is the host of the weekly eponymous podcast. Carney is a frequent contributor to Art in America and VICE. His performances and work have been exhibited in venues including Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam; Marlborough Gallery, New York, NY; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL; MOCA Los Angeles, CA; ROCKSBOX, Portland, OR; The Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, NM; High Desert Test Sites, Joshua Tree, CA; LxWxH, Seattle, WA; Red Line, Denver, CO; and The Standard, Miami, FL; amongst others. He has taught courses at MoMA, New York, NY; Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA; New York University, New York, NY; Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, OR; Dia:Beacon, Beacon, NY; and the Bruce High Quality Foundation University, Brooklyn, NY.
