Frontispace is pleased to announce an exhibition of work created by UR students who participated in the Art New York Program in the spring of 2020. The exhibition represents the culmination of the time the students spent living, working, studying, and producing art in New York City as well as the work that they continued to make when the program shifted to remote learning. Spanning a variety of media, the works on view utilize the resources of New York City as a starting point for creative production and explore both personal and collective ideas.
Art New York is an internship program at the University of Rochester that is offered to all qualified sophomore, junior, and senior students from any area of study who are interested in learning about how art gets made, how it reaches the public, and the process of its interpretation and display. Students have the opportunity to explore New York’s rich and varied cultural life while pursuing a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience.
The spring 2020 participants in the Art New York Program were Yoenia Bernit (Krokova), Raimundo Diaz, Farah Halaweh, Abdallah Kokash, Cortney Pang, Itzel Rios Soto, Alexis Robinson, and Chengyue Zhao, under the leadership of the Director, Evelyne Leblanc-Roberge, and the Program Manager, Megan Metté.
The exhibition runs August 25 thru October 3, 2021 with a reception for the students on September 3 from 4pm to 7pm.
