In this performance, the artist’s body is attached to the gallery wall through a long braided strand of hair. For the majority of the duration, the artist remains tethered to the wall, holding the tension between stillness, endurance, and constraint. The action references The Couple in the Cage: A Guatinaui Odyssey and reflects on the relationship between artist and institution. The wall functions as a stand in for the museum, a surface that hosts and benefits from the presence and labor of the artist.
At the conclusion of the performance, the artist forcibly removes the braid from the wall, ending the attachment and marking a rupture between body and institution.
